You and Web Sites.

This page is intended to help you produce a small web site which can be linked in to our site.. It will also save me a lot of time too.

At www.LarngectomyLife.com we offer one of two services to Lary Clubs. Firstly we will produce a one off page that has your clubs details if you don't already have one. Secondly, we will link in to your web site. This second option is prefered by me as it means I don't have to do a lot. The first option will get you started until such a time as you grow your very own web guru.

How is this web site built?

This web site is hosted by www.webhostfreaks.com (ISP - Internet Service Provider) where I have this web site on one of their servers. I design the web site using Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX 2004. It's a WYSYWIG (What you see is what you get) designer and does most of the grunt work for me. When I've designed the pages I use FTP Voyager (from Rhinosoft.com) to upload (send the files from my computer to webhostfreaks) the files and then when you go to our site you can view them.

To make life easy I use plenty of Open Source Software( that means its free) to provide some pretty complicated stuff like the forum which is PHPBB (PHP Bulliten Board). Also I'm using HTML (this is the computer language that is making this text display in your browser. Also I use CSS (which is good for formatting the text) and I use PHP to display dynamic things (things that change) like the date.

Putting all this together you get to see this site. If you are not used to all this then start simply. There are plenty of WYSYWIG html editors around and all you need is a means of FTPing your files to your ISP. When you are done send me the link or put it in the forum for all to see and I will make an entry under the clubs section for you.

Building web sites is simply fun for techies like me and if you are similarly inclined why not build one yourself for some business purpose or just for pleasure. Go on...give it a try. Always remember the starting point for any of this is your search engine where you are going to gain access to plenty of information to help you complete your venture.

If you get really brave you might advertise in our forums for someone to help you build a web site. Remember our web site has a global reach so your partners could come from anywhere in the world!

How do you make a one off page

Use one of our clubs pages that I have created as a template. Try this one for a start.

It is Ron Batty's (Ron of the operation pics) Club and is the format I require. I can then put a page out for you. If you do not know how to do the map link, don't worry. I'll try to help and if you live somewhere where this facility is not availabe then we will simply not do it.

Please note: I only do a single web page like the one above that has adress information etc.
