North Staffordshire Laryngectomee Support Group




The Purposes of the Club

  1. The most important purpose of the organisation is to inform laryngectomees of the literature and support groups that are available to assist the recovering laryngectomee and their family, and to give support and encouragement.
  2. To stimulate, support and improve relations among persons who have lost their natural voice due to the removal of the larynx because of cancer or other reasons
  3. To encourage and maintain an exchange of ideas and methods of communication for the total rehabilitation of the laryngectomee.
  4. To provide visitation services to persons who are candidates for, or have had a laryngectomy.
  5. To disseminate information to physicians, business and professional people who are in a position to assist in the rehabilitation of laryngectomees.
  6. To loan devices that will assist laryngectomees to communicate after surgery.
  7. To publicise, distribute information and provide speakers to educate the public concerning the dangers of smoking and the causes of cancer of the larynx.
